The teams at 11 bit studios and Digital Sun have announced Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will be heading into early access via Steam on 23rd October.

As you may have surmised given its name, Moonlighter 2 is a follow up to 2018’s Moonlighter, which starred shopkeeper Will who, well, moonlights as a dungeon exploring adventurer.

“‘Never a dull moment,’ Will might say, now stranded in the mysterious village of Tresna and searching for a way home through an interdimensional mess – a quest demanding plenty of dodge rolling, fighting, looting, and clever shopkeeping along the way,” the Moonlighter 2 team tease.

As for what early access adopters can expect, there will be three biomes to explore on its initial debut. These biomes will include “unique enemies”, so keep your wits about you. When players return from these biomes, there will be plenty of relics to then sell in Will’s shop.

“Set prices, serve customers, customise your space, and experience most of the story – all built around an updated combat system featuring four main weapons, nearly 100 shop and dungeon perks, and a smoother, improved feel,” the blurb reads.

We were rather taken with the first Moonlighter when it came out all those years ago. “Moonlighter’s clear dedication to its idea manages to suck you into both the exciting adventurer’s life and the more sedate job of selling your wares,” reads Eurogamer’s original Moonlighter review.
